    * Small caveat: Some tournatments require the hawgtrough for photographing if you submit a C&R fish for scoring, to keep strict tolerance via standardized measuring device.

I strengthen mine with a fiberglass rod (6' mailbox marker at HD) and made it float with 1/2" foam (Poly Foam Caulk Saver) siliconed in each side.

I use the hawg trough style ruler from yak gear. It's not made from plastic so it's durable, it floats, and has easy to read markings. I'm happy with it.

Thanks for the feedback. This video makes the Yak-Gear Fish Stik look like a winner.

It sure does! I bought a hawg trough a couple weeks ago. I wish I would have seen this before I did.....

I'd be interested in your review after you use it a while. I considered it but thought locking it open one handed would be a pain in the as while trying to manage a fish in the other.

That's would not be a problem for those of us who catch mostly shorts. However, I can see your dilemma given the two-fisted behemoths you snag.

Just has an FYI, the video I linked shows the user being able to open the Fish Stik one handed while holding a rather decent sized fish in the other.

I figured that out after I snapped my first one in half...sadly it wasn't because the fish was big.

The one I use is solid and doesn't fold so it's no different than using a hawg trough. I believe it comes in two sizes, I have the bigger one at 36in (I was feeling optimistic) I think the smaller one is around 20-24in. I have included a picture of what I'm talking about.
