Hurricanes are very hard to predict their paths and the chances of it blowing up in the Gulfstream is good, or it could drop to a minimal hurricane. Doesn't really matter as the storm surge of a major hurricane doesn't go away and where it comes ashore storm surge does the dirty deeds- a storm that brushes the NC Outer Banks and comes in around Virginia Beach puts the storm surge into the Bay- that is a scary scenario, regardless of wind velocity...add in a category II intensity and we could have another Isabel...what these big storms do for fishing is stir things up and afterwards we catch fish- might be exactly what I need to get the snakeheads hitting lures in the creek...

Stay safe and like the Boy Souts motto- be prepared

now they say it will be farther out to sea the coast will get pounded but we will only get 1-2" of rain. the t-storms last weekend might be worse. also with the wind shift when it goes past sunday morning will push a lot of water out of the bay, good thing to jump start fishing. churn the water column a bit

Hope you are right, but this far out these things are notoriously unpredictable-

That's a great idea! If the hurricane is smashing md in the north, then it must have already passed Va. Right?! Sounds like solid logic

The European Computer Model track has the Hurricane entering Chesapeake Bay with winds of 115-120 MPH late Saturday night, early Sunday morning with ten to twelve feet of storm surge- If anything like that takes place it is something no one has ever seen in their lifetime in this area- it would be catastrophic-

I have a bad feeling this storm will smash us. With the ground soaked already and the amount of rain that will be dropped on us there will be inland flooding. I have 15lbs of fish in the freezer i hope the power is back up soon after this passes. I cant eat that much fish in 2 days. I was outside this morning looking at the three old 60 ft trees in my back yard. I hope there roots hold fast in the soaked ground. I'm worried about this one.

If you have a boat moored anywhere around the bay pull it now!!!!!!
