  • What to During a Gale and Flickering Electricity

    I don't imagine there will be any local trip reports today. It's hard to believe it was spring-like just a few days ago.

    I spent a little time this morning tying and assembling some of my go-to pickerel catchers for my next Eastern Shore outing.

    Now it's back to crossing my fingers that our power stays on.

              prolonged gale NW = blowout tide;
              blowout tide = easy picking clams/oysters;
              clams/oysters = happy slobber bob

              was hoping for some fish this weekend at some point but I think I'll have to settle for shellfish instead.

                Today makes me re-think the necessity of the Hobie PA "Sail Kit" - I feel like I could get the PA going faster than with a torqueedo or bixpy with today's winds!!!

                        I took seven of my favorite reels over to Deale to Zach’s to get them cleaned, lubed and checked out for any needed repairs...figured that it would be good for my most used tackle to get a through going over before the real fishing season kicks off...especially my two Revo NaCL Toro 50 Winches...plan on a trip or two down to the Eastern Shore of Virginia this April/May to play with the Bull Reds...They are my go to reels for live bait/chunking...take care of these things before they fail during a critical moment with a trophy fish...

                          Past couple of days I've been pouring lead and cleaning up the flashing from freshly poured striper jigs. Today powder painting the jigs. Tomorrow I will be glueing on eyes. I'll post pix in a couple days.

                          Wind is still howling, Friday 7:15pm.

                            Power just went off for the third time today...longest time we have had the power on all day long has been two hours...update- 2 hours later 8:30 pm got power back on...and we are on the same circuit as the traffic light at Poplar Hill Road and Rt. 5 by-pass- lots of near accident with no operating traffic light...hard to do much of anything by candle light...
