  • Essentials for kayak fishing.

What are the couple things that you won't leave your house without when kayak fishing? Trying to get some ideas on what to order before we reach full spring-time. I am going to troll and do some light tackle jigging for anything that bites. Anything helps, thanks.

A "Check List"! Mark on SL-OGWLF turned me onto a good one.

That way you don't leave home the PFD, Paddle, Mirage Drive, Rods, Bait etc.

A check list is your best friend once you decide on your essentials. There's nothing worse than driving an hour plus only to realize you forgot your PFD.

                    Checklist for-sure...

                    - I've left with my mirage drive (but no paddle) and have gotten stock in the flats. jiggling a PA14 loose is a task...
                    - I've left my 360* white light and been issued a warning by DNR while still fishing at Dusk. Have photo proof...
                    - I've driven to a local launch and forgotten my PFD and have to reschedule the trip. Still cant believe I did this...

Take a look at some of the educational material on the CBKA website. http://www.chesapeakebaykayakanglers...shing-101.html It is not complete, but can give you some pointers.

Lucky for me, I only have to walk about 1 minute to my boat rack!

                          Here's something I never forget:

A willingness to appreciate the scenes, the companionship of fellow anglers, the surrounding nature and to simply enjoy the outing, whether I catch fish or not.
