  • Finally got my first kayak! Anyone fishing in Occoquan river this Saturday?

I finally purchased my very first kayak last weekend. There was a good deal on the Viking Profish 400 at West Marine, and I went ahead pulled the trigger. I've been following this forum from last year but without my own kayak, I didn't feel really attached to this community, but I now feel like I'm a member of this forum. Just like many guys here, I have a job and two kids, so I'm not sure how actively I can be part of this community, but I'm definately looking forward to meeting people here, and join an adventure with you!

Now I have a kayak and this Sat seems to have very good weather. I live near the Dulles Airport and I'm planing on going out to Occoquan river. Is there anyone going out the Occoquan river this Saturday? Or, if anyone wouldn't mind taking some time and teach me basics about kayak fishing, I can certainly go out anywhere you fish.

        tmc3p,

        Congratulations on your purchase.

It's also nice to see another SL member using a van as a "fishmobile".

Awesome. You’ll quickly find yourself in love with the experience of fishing from your kayak. And almost as much fun will be customizing your yak to your taste and style of fishing. Enjoy.

Thank you. I was told to get a used yak when you get into kayaking fishing but I’ve enjoying customizing and learning my kayak. I went out a few times by myself but can’t wait to go out for perch and meet people when the weather warms up.
