Homeport Farm Park Ribbon Cutting Wednesday June 20 2018 3 pm
Do you know if the festivities will be at the parking area or near the water?
Mark
No I don't know. The launch beach is the scenic choice, but there isn't much room for a crowd. It may be that some of us will already have launched and be listening from the water. If people go earlier in the day for a paddle I don't expect them to land and haul their yaks up the hill for the ribbon cutting and then down the hill again to launch . .
I'll see you at Homeport this afternoon. I won't be there before 1 pm.
The weather forecast looks good.
Thank you all in advance for turning out for this celebration and for supporting Homeport for five years. I first launched my kayak out of Homeport to prove it could be done in June 2013. The county did these magnificent improvements because all of us asked it to.
Thank you Anne Arundel County Department of Parks and Recreation, Lisa, Chesapeake Paddlers and Snaggedline members who encouraged government officials to make improvements at Homeport Farm.
Also, as you use and enjoy Homeport, it would be great if you dropped a thank you email to County Executive Steve Schuh exschu00@aacounty.org and Rick Anthony, Director of Recreation and Parks: RPANTH49@aacounty.org
Please include your first and last names and street address so they know you are a real person. Photos of the park are always appreciated - these guys don't get out of their offices often enough.
I launched at Homeport this morning and was on the water from 0630 to 0800. I saw plenty of bait balls and some jumping fish but was not able to get them to hit on the shad dart spinner I was using. I think if I had some top water plugs I may have caught some fish.
This launch is really great if you want to stay in protected water. It is a mile to the South River and the hills block most of the wind unless it is coming directly out of the N or S. I checked the South River Federation website and the water in the creek is safe at this point in time.
Thanks for all your work on this project, I plan to use it often.
