  • Three times as many “guests viewers” as members

I notice that our forum has lots of viewers who are not members...usually 28 guests and eight members or there abouts...I do not mind sharing with our kayakers...what is increasingly clear is a lot of power boat operators seem to realize our fishing success rates are far and above what is expected..we have figured out where certain species of fish are at certain tide and wind conditions by maximizing our limited area of travel in kayaks...by pinpointing these areas...so my reports are not specific to the area I am reporting...Slower Lower covers a lot of water...Mattawoman Creek is fairly small so that might be an exception...PMs are the way for members to only communicate with members...

You hit the nail on the head. ESVA, ESMD, Tangier Sound, etc is about as specific as Ill get. I also take great care to conceal any background information in my pictures. One careless post can really do a number on a sensitive fishery. I'm all for helping others who first take the effort to help themselves first, but "fishing" for fish/locations through forum posts is something that drives me insane.

I never just give out spots, I only trade them for other spots. Unless it's you asking John, in which case I will just lie. ha!

I think that is a un-written rule. Giving tackle suggestions, technique pointers is very free flowing. This is a great forum. Lots of great people.

I agree with Ron. I try to be generic. I might list the reservoir name, or general area. I definitely don't list launch points or smaller bodies of water.

I agree - I'm glad most everyone here has a good sense of humor. Makes this forum as much entertainment as it is fruitful fishing knowledge.

Years ago I booked a charter with a guide in Ft. Lauderdale. I called him a few days before the trip and asked him what type of fish we were likely to catch. His reply was accurate but silly ("the dumb, hungry ones").

I feel fortunate when I can encounter some dumb, hungry fish. For example this morning Mark and I encountered and caught nearly 100 stripers to 25" fishing from my center console in shallow water using very light tackle. Mark caught the largest fish (25") on topwater.

                              mark's big fish.jpg

It was my most productive day of the year to date.
