  • Got my first

I have never been to the bay bridge to fiah so I figured today i would give it ago. I was supposed to meet up with another gentleman but I miss communication made it not workout so I went off on my own. I have never fished for striper in the bay or had any idea what the heck i was doing. I started of fishing for white perch to live line but kept catching 10 to 12 inchers so i gave up. The first hour or so it was slow. I was making all kinds of fish but didn't really know how to catch them. I tied on a swim bait and started casting it out and letting it fall for 10 to 20 seconds then start reeling in and bam i was hooked up. I got about 20 to 25 sub legal stripers. I was so proud. On the way back in i decided to try one last cast. I let it sink and saw my line go slack after the bait fell for 5 seconds. I was fishing 30 ft of water so I set the hook. Low and behold my first keeper striper. It measured 25 inches and i couldn't be any happier. IMG_7569.jpg

Congratulations, that's the way to do it! Double hook-up: you have hooked your first keeper and you are now hooked on catching more!

Those are some great size perch! Very tasty. And you'll always remember your first rockfish off a kayak, and your first legal one too. The expression on your face says it all, and it's good to see a positive report on here.

That’s a hell of an opening day. You’ve got no chance saving any money for the foreseeable future.

Congrats! The first keeper is always the best, I still remember mine!

If you can, post a pic of the swimbait!

                    Nice!

Where is the launch point to fish off the bay bridge? I’ve never been down there either.

Awesome job, but who you kidding, ‘Last Cast’ ? Save that for your wife or girlfriend.

Thanks! I just looked on the map. For some reason I had the 695 bridge in my mind, not the bay bridge.
