  • The most wonderful time of the year!

Goose hunting is good and perch fishing is just getting good! Blast and cast weekend!

Oh and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and the tightest of lines in the new year!

I shot some geese once, and spent the remainder of my day plucking. Never again, at least not until I have an electric plucker available. I didn’t really care for the meat either, but I’d love to try it again. My mom is a great cook, but when it comes to wild game hit or miss. Now I wonder if that was on purpose. In SC one of my favorite days included rails & tails. Rail hunting at low tide and fishing for tailing redfish at high tide. All from the bow of my buddies nice Maverick flats boat. I’m pretty sure you would like it too. Merry Christmas!

I've plucked one entire goose in my hunting career and that was enough...

We just cut the breast meat out and pull the legs. There isn't much more meat on these birds than that. I also take the hearts and livers for catfish bait. Soak the meat in a salt brine for a few days to pull out the blood then I grind most of it and make, chili, tacos, spaghetti, etc. Just don't try to make a burger out it, too lean for that. It's also good marinated and grilled to medium rare. If you're ever in the Howard county area, let me know and you can pick up a pack of ground goose.

      Rails and tails sounds awesome!
