Are there any blue cats and/or YP in the Nanjemoy Creek at Friendship Landing?? I figure there is since it's off the Potomac. I have this Friday off and want to scout that area, weather permitting. There are a couple of HOW events that I have signed up for on Nanjemoy at Friendship Landing, and I want to know the area. Just figure I'll bring a rod with me while scouting. I'm not looking for any spots, just a yes or no and either a left or right direction from the ramp area. TIA

Lots of shallows there...low tide is really a “low” tide..navigating is tricky...but there are blue catfish as well as other freshwater fish back in the creek...I have fished there several times...never had a “banner” day, but no skunks either...not on my list of must launches...I prefer the area to the right of the launch as there are some deeper channels in the creek...heading towards the Potomac is a challenge with finding deeper waters, but it is “doable”...NOAA charts need to be updated there..."Lady Luck" 2016 Red Hibiscus Hobie Outback, Lowrance Hook2-7TS

I echo Ron here as well about low tide. I have launched there several times in the summer and had some "meh" days. If you go to the right of the launch up into the creek it's essentially all shallow flats except for a thin strip of channel in the middle. Not so thin that it's hard to figure out, but definitely in my mind it's more of a shallow flats type of creek than a deeper channel type.Matt
