Good day. Appears to be a curly tail grub and not a shad dart, interesting.

While the traditional shad darts or small gold or silver spoons still catch shad, a far less costly alternative is 1/8-oz or 1/16-oz jigheads with 2" twister tails. Bustem Baits makes a small stinger plastic that is popular too. I tie them on a tandem rig.

I use the same small jigheads and 2" twistertails for freshwater fishing and have caught bass, pickerel, bluegills, redear sunfish, and crappie on that rig. My favorite ones have a red or blue body with chartreuse tails.

From personal experience, Fletcher's is usually about 2 weeks ahead of the Susky when it comes to the peak shad run.

The dogwoods just started blooming here in Central MD on Thursday of last week. They are the indicator.
