Hello all,
I have good news about the Anne Arundel County paddle-in campsites on the Patuxent River at Stocketts Run and Emery Landing. They're now fully fitted out and part of the Patuxent Water Trail.
Each location has a portapotty and two campsites for up to 6 people. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring.
The Stocketts Run paddle in campsites are just downstream and across the river from the Queen Anne canoe launch in Prince Georges County. There's a steep hill to get up to the campsites on a bluff above the river (it's actually the bottom of an old quarry). Tie your yak to a tree at the bottom of the hill, you're not going to move it up to that bluff. The good news is the hill gets you up above bug level and you may get a breeze.
The Emery Landing paddle in campsites are across the river and downstream a bit from the Jackson's Landing part of Patuxent River Park.

The website description needs to be updated to include the fire rings and portapotties.
There's a reservation weirdness. If you are reserving one week or more in advance, you can reserve online. If you are reserving less than a week in advance, the online reservation system will tell you the campsites are unavailable even if they are available. Call the Anne Arundel County Rec & Parks number and make a reservation over the phone. You may also have to look up the Stocketts Run campsite under "Ford" and the Emery Landing campsite under "Riggleman". It's an old, inflexible online reservation system.
Jackson's Landing at Patuxent River Park has overnight hangtag parking at Patuxent River Park and has the combination for the Queen Anne canoe launch. Contact Patuxent River Park for hangtag information, hangtag reservations and the Queen Anne combination: http://www.pgparks.com/Facilities/Fa...tural-Area-112 Jackson's Landing may also have seasonal kayak and canoe rentals.
I am checking to see if people can refill their water bottles at Patuxent River Park. You may have to walk up the hill to the Park Visitor Center.
I have paddled to Emery Landing from the Patuxent Riverkeeper HQ downstream. It's a pretty paddle. You can park overnight at the Riverkeeper HQ and there are also seasonal kayak and canoe rentals there, including some fishing kayaks. Contact the Riverkeeper for overnight parking reservations and canoe and kayak rentals. You can also refill your water bottles at Pax Riverkeeper HQ.
These are the first adult county campsites in Anne Arundel County. All the other county campsites are youth group campsites.
I am so looking forward to trying out these campsites this season.
