  • Beverly Triton Meeting TONIGHT Thursday 4/18/19 6 pm Riva Road Annapolis

Hello all, sorry for the late notice. We're trying to stop Beverly Triton Beach Park from being effectively closed to the general public again, as it was from 1984 to 2015.

Heads up, Mayo Peninsula Advisory Committee Meeting TONIGHT / Thursday April 18 2019 6:00 to 7:30 pm at 2664 Riva Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401, USA - Chesapeake Room, 2nd Floor (It's one of the DPW buildings, the security guard at the entrance will let you in and give your directions to the Chesapeake Room)

This meeting is open to the general public: https://www.aacounty.org/departments...mittee-meeting

Everyone except one person on this county-appointed "advisory" committee lives on the Mayo Peninsula. It's an organized committee of Mayo obstructionists.

"Why: To review and discuss conceptual alternatives to the park's development"

    Conceptual changes? Hrmph.

This "county advisory committee" wants to:

    1) *Reduce* parking by 75% to 30 spots from current 125 parking spots - for a 344 acre public park with a mile of sandy beach!
    2) Stop the county from putting in a bathhouse with basic toilets and outdoor rinse off showers
    3) If can't stop toilets, move bathhouse / toilets as far away from the beach as possible back to the park entrance
    4) Reduce ADA parking spots near the water

The Beverly Triton Beach Park plan has been pared down to the minimum. Anything less is nothing at all.

The proposed move of the bathhouse and toilets is senseless. Making people walk a long way from the beach to the bathroom is wrong. In the case of people with little kids at the beach, that's mean spirited. For people who use walkers or wheelchairs or who have arthritis in their knees or hips or who have balance problems or emphysema, that's downright cruel.

Please come to this meeting and ask the county to make the improvements necessary for families to enjoy this public park in safety and comfort.

Hope to see you there and again my apologies for the late notice.

    Lisa

Not well. The county took the February 2019 "final plans" and drastically cut back the planned improvements.

Most injurious to SnaggedLine is the increased carry to the water. Right now it's about 75 feet to the water from the loading and unloading zone. Under the new plan, it will be 200 or 225 feet from the water. One of the Mayo obstructionists was really outstandingly rude - she said "oh, they can just put the kayaks on carts, they're supposed to getting exercise" and laughed.

Comments are due THIS Thursday May 2 2019. I am starting a separate thread.
