I met John via Snaggedline. He has been most generous in sharing his ample knowledge of light tackle tidal fishing with me via his book, in person and on the water during countless outings together. Most important he has become a good friend. What you saw on this video is precisely what he is – an articulate, ethical, humble person who is passionate about fishing.

    What a great interview!

Thanks, Mark. Ditto to all of your sentiments. It was a pleasure working with John. I hope I get the chance to fish with him some time soon.

Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate having the opportunity to visit with Hawg last weekend to film this interview. I do enjoy talking about fishing in general and kayak fishing in particular. Hawg has a great bar setup in his basement where we filmed -- the Crazyhorse Saloon.

Good luck in the YouTube channel.

Great interview, guys. Maybe it’s time to organize another meet up this year once the fishing heats up. Those seem to be a great way to get together and share knowledge/ make new friends.

Good interview...I know what you mean, John, about going into DC to Fletcher’s boat house...after 17 years of having my office on 16th street, I really don’t relish the thought of going into the city...

I’m down. I haven’t been a social fisherman to date but I’d be happy to change that.

Same here. I’ve never been to a SL meetup but would be happy to go, especially if it’s on the Severn. Maybe I’ll look into organizing one.... I have access to a private launch on round bay. Or smiths marina for ease of access.

Several folks mentioned getting together to fish. For many years a few of the original Snaggedline members tried to organize a monthly meet and greet event. Planning for this schedule was done during January at Bass Pro Shops (thanks to Harry -- On the Fly -- for organizing). Different guys offered to serve as the host for the events. The last few years, that meeting was poorly attended, and nobody volunteered to host the meet and greets for many of the months. As far as I know, there was no planning meeting in Jan 2019, and there have been no meet and greets this year.

Even in the absence of a formal schedule, there is no reason why one individual cannot arrange an informal meet and greet. Choose a location and a target species, post the time and location, and arrange a restaurant for lunch afterwards. This used to happen a lot, but has been infrequent in the past few years. If you want to have meet and greets, please offer to host one or at least serve as a co-host.

Ok. There’s is no need for a formal schedule for what I have in mind. Soon I will start a thread w/ tentative date and location to see how much interest there is. I am not sure about the age demographic of the forum users (Retired, working, student) etc. That has an effect on what is the best time of week. Although with boating season kicking into gear weekends are always risky depending on the time of day. I think the Severn River presents the most opportunities and convenience for many.
