I don't know why this hammerhead kept trying to attack this yak but he wouldn't give up. I'll be the fisherman was a little edgy his next few trips out in the water.

Could be. That's certainly not an area where you would dangle a stringer of fish overboard.

Also, I noticed the paddler was not wearing a PFD. The good news is that had he gone overboard, he wouldn't have needed it.

Sharks are hard to predict...hammerheads are aggressive, fast and powerful...two local attacks in NC...woman lost a leg, surfer had severe foot lacerations...keep your feet and hands out of the water, inside the kayak...in the Lower Maryland Bay and above, the most commonly encountered shark is the Bull shark...around Hampton Roads area, the list expands geometrical with Hammerheads, tiger, bull, sandbar, etc. be aware any shark is to be treated with respect...they can hurt you.
