We're transmitting from between the waves, and other than the Coasties on chanel 16 we have to be thankful for what we can get.

      thing is, when grilled sardine is next to me, his radio is loud and clear and receiving boat chatter while mine is not.

      maybe there is just some settings i havent figured out yet

        Make sure your antenna is seated, should be a twist lock. Look for a hi=low switch,and choose hi. Turn the squelch knob down till you get noise, then turn it up just till the noise stops. Put it on chanel 68 (normal Tidal Fish channel). Caan you recieve grilled sardine's transmissions?

        When all else fails, hope the warranty hasn't run out.
