  • HOW Flea Market shout outs

A special thanks to Tom Brown and the HOW flea market this Saturday. Too bad that the weather wasn't a little more cooperative.

This has grown from a local club oriented show, to a regional production that attracts everything like local vendors, such as myself, to the professional tackle dealers.

As always, it's great to see the "regulars" from Snaggedline: Memory Maker, John Rentch, Mark, John Veil, and several others who's names I can't recall.

And an extra special thanks for giving me a "hot shot" to get me headed home with a dead battery.

Yes, it was a fun day speaking to folks and waiting for the nasty weather to come which it never did. The forecast kind of missed the mark which is unfortunate because it held attendance down.

Nevertheless, John Rentch and I had fun at the FSFF table tying flies, passing them out to interested folks and telling them about the club.

We hope to see them at our next meeting on February 5th if not sooner at another club activity.

Thank you Tom for your good work in organizing this event. The FSFF members appreciate the outreach opportunity you have given us.

Stu, no problem on the jump(s)!

It was great seeing familiar faces and getting out of the cabin fever! Thanks to Tom and crew for keeping this going and growing it to a great event! Too bad the snow that never was lowered attendance this year.

Mark, I bought 15 flies from an older gentleman at the table next to you and now wish I bought more! I’m hoping to put them to use on a couple of trips coming up next month!
        Used to fish more.

Tom puts his heart and soul into running the HOW flea market each year. Thanks for your efforts!

Like almost every other flea market where I have had a table, I sell plenty of things, but never as much as I wanted to. Some day I hope to drive home from a show with no inventory to carry back to my van. I enjoyed talking with many shoppers and to see some of the long time Snaggedline members from the early years.

Michael - thanks for offering me a great price on that beautiful Avid Inshore rod. I look forward to using it this year.

The gentleman to my left was Bill May, outdoor sports columnist of the Carroll County Times. He told me he was selling some Joe Bruce fly patterns. And to my right was Joe Bruce himself. Both are FSFF members and Joe often teaches or assists at our Saturday fly tying sessions. You definitely got 15 proven flies that will serve you well if you purchased from either of those gentleman. Best of luck to you on the water with them.

Mark, thanks! It was Bill May and he had some very nice crabs and bonefish flies that I couldn’t begin to tie. I should have bought all of the crabs!

As the Coordinator for Maryland Heroes on the Water, thank you to Tom for putting this on each year for our benefit and especially all of yall for coming every year. Tom definitely puts his heart into each market and we value his being a member of our HOW family.
All of yall's efforts have allowed us to operate for 7 years in Maryland. Starting with just 6 kayaks the first year, we have continued to grow in order to take care of as many veterans, first responders and their families as we can. Thanks to all of you, we now can put 40 people on the water at one time in the main chapter. This does not include our sub-chapters. Because of yall's support we have a Appalachian Sub-chapter which concentrates on western maryland and the West Virginia Panhandle and starting this spring, our newest sub-chapter, Tangier Sound, covering the Eastern shore. Yall have answered the call with your donations and especially when we needed volunteers. Thank you again guys and gals for your support and friendship. Coop
