Good morning all,
Once again, we are at the final planning meeting for the decades-overdue improvements at Beverly Triton Beach Park. This is the most important public water access meeting of the year. If you're going to attend one meeting, make it this one. The meeting will be this Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 7 to 8:30 pm at Mayo Elementary School Cafeteria, 1260 Mayo Ridge Road, Edgewater MD 21037.
Last February 2019 we were ALSO at the final design phase. New County Executive Steuart Pittman listened to the obstructionists and ordered a reduction of the February 2019 final design plans, paring down already modest amenities and causing a year delay. Against all odds, we worked with the County Council and kept the construction funds in the FY20 county budget (7/1/19 - 6/30/20). If we hold strong, if we turn out in force, construction will begin in late July 2020 and the park that was promised in 1985, with basic amenities like a 96 spot parking lot, some toilets and a rinse-off shower, will open in April 2021 and allow us to use the park in safety and comfort and make public access to this public park *permanent*.
After more than 34 years, construction of basic amenities in Beverly Triton Beach Park will begin this summer IF park obstructionists fail in their efforts to block improvements and close the park again.
Especially in this digital age, showing up at an inconvenient time at an inconvenient time shows that you care. Show up!
