Last night the FSFF welcomed Mr. Jim Cooper who described the goals and good works of Heroes on the Water (HOW).

A 501(c)(3) veterans’ charity, HOW creates alternative therapeutic programs to serve veterans, active-duty military personnel, first responders and their families. The primary therapy utilized by Heroes on the Water is kayak fishing. Volunteer-led chapters around the United States hold events which are free for our nation’s heroes. And as Jim explained that is how we can help – to volunteer as fishing guides at Maryland HOW events. Volunteering takes little effort. It’s a relaxing fishing outing for you and the participants. It yields tremendous personal satisfaction.

As usual we had a good turnout, many of whom left with excellent raffle prizes. Plus, they learned of the numerous FSFF activities that are scheduled in the weeks ahead:

Finally, our next general meeting is Wednesday, 1 April at 7:00 p.m. Our guest speaker will Mr. Dave Sikorski, president of the Maryland Chapter of the Coast Conservation Association:

Non-members and guests are welcome to all FSFF general meetings. I hope to see you there.
