I just picked up Hummingbird 385 CI. I have the Ram mount and I thought that I would be able to install so that at end of day I could unplug unit and unhook RAM and all that I would have exposed on Kayak would be the ball and a bit of loose wire. I just can't figure out how to do that.
The Humminbird is designed to have wires run through or under base and attach to base. That way you slip humminbird into base and all connections are made. But doing that means you can't easily disconnect base from wires and RAM.
Right now I see two options.
1. Just keep Humminbird base and Ram mount attached to Kayak all the time.
2. Use wing nuts to mount base to Ram. That way I could slip wires under mount and disconnect ram with base.
I really would appreciate any advice on this.
