  • Potomac closed to Stripers

The Potomac River Fisheries Commission has a summertime closure for rockfish from July 7 until August 20. You may not intentionally target them in waters controlled by PRFC, and don’t be caught keeping any. So at a place like PLO you can fish for them past the point into the bay but not from the ramp to the point. Also the size limit is 20” in PRFC waters when the season is open.

Having said that the trout hit the same lures as stripers and their habitat is similar. So try to release stripers in water if possible, take no pictures, and familiarize yourself with the boundaries of PRFC.

Sounds like a good idea, especially with the typical heat during that time. Glad the specks have been present.
