Nice clean bite...looks about eight or so inches across...probably an adult sandbar or Brown shark...Common inshore shark, usually not a threat to humans, but I wouldn’t tempt fate by dangling my feet or hands overboard...

Even worse is wade fishing with a stringer. My kayak fishing guide in Tampa, Neil Taylor, tells a story of how in his early years of fishing before getting into kayaks he had a stringer of fish attached to the drawstring of his bathing suit and was wading. A 10-ft shark took the stringer, and Neil quickly ditched his bathing suit. He had to cover his privates with a T-shirt to get back to his van, and later to get from the van into his apartment. It is a funny story to hear, but must have been a frightening experience to live through.

The thought of a naked fisherman, brings to mind an entirely obscene vision of an "Angler Fish"

I used to wade fish in Florida all the time .......... you learn quick to have a 15 ft stringer. The Fish We’re attacked by both sharks and cudas occasionally. You learn to drop the stringer and bait bucket and slowly walk to shore.

I was stationed at Hurlbert Field in Florida when they built the Okaloosa Fishing Pier near Destin (Destin had about four or five buildings back then). We used to catch 8 foot sharks from the pier. People used to try and walk them back to the beach to get their lure back but the only people that succeeded had wire cable on they reel. At night, the sharks would circle the pilings on top of the water. I was sure glad they had a stout rail fence around that pier.
