It's duck season the next two Saturdays. Watch for the big lumps with decoys around them!

How Much Space?
Hey there Rob.
In case I get out on the Upper Potomac this weekend, how much space should I leave to get around someone who is set up for duck hunting?
In general, should I hug one of the shorelines of the river to get past? If I'm in my jet, should I slow way down as I'm going by? I have no idea what the propper do's and don't are for that situation.
Thanks,

There are no rules. Unless you are hunting too. If you hang close to them they will not be able to decoy birds and will probably get mad. If you see some, just wave and give them some room, but don't go crazy staying out of their way.Originally posted by DanMarino View PostHey there Rob.

I had a guy fish once in my decoys, trying to pi$$ me off on purpose. He said "Its a public river, I can fish here if I want." I said "You're right, as long as you don't mind me shooting over you."
That ended that conversation.
I only brought it up as guys would probably paddle to look at the ducks that are decoys and not know until they hear the shooting or the hunters wave at them.
Plus, No hunting on Sunday."If you can't have fun doing it, it ain't worth doing." ... or you're just doing it wrong.
