The construction at Robert E Lee is completed and the park is now open. No need to sneak in anymore. You can drive right to the lake and launch. Good untapped spot where more than half of the 100 acre lake is inaccessible by foot.

I rode over lake roland one day when I used the light rail to go to an O's game from work. I thought it looked like a nice little lake to spend a couple hours on. Although it kind of is city limits fishing so Im interested in how fishy it is... If anyone hits it up please report.

Thanks for the post. This isnt too far from me and I'd like to do a little lake fishing. I spend all my time on the bay, which is a great thing, but it'd be nice to fish a lake too. I'd also like to hear any reports from people heading over there. I'll do the same if I make it out.

I've caught largemouth, catfish and and carp there. I dont know about pike or anything else. Also there is no fee but I think it's closed at dusk.

Just found this link to a online site with a map and info on lake roland, looks like a interesting place to check out. I am off this thurs and fri and may have to take a ride up and check it out.

Maybe no kayaking at Lake Roland

I went out to lake roland - robert e. lee park this morning ready to go fishing out of my yak, but there's a sign that says No Boating - along with a list of other things you can't do in the park.

I just emailed Baltimore County because their website says there is canoeing and kayaking. So until I here from them for some clarification I'm staying away.

Well here's the reply from Baltimore County about kayaking/canoeing on Roland Lake. BTW The lake is owned by the city but the county has an agreement that puts the usage and maintenance under the county. http://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/Age...park/index.htm



I apologize for any inconvenience caused by the inaccurate signage at the park as it relates to boating. The information on the website is accurate. Canoeing and kayaking is permitted at your own risk at Robert E. Lee Park. Boaters must wear a life jacket. We are currently in the process of developing new, accurate signage for the park.

I would print this and take it with you. The police that patrol these places usually don't know the rules and rely on the signs. It could help talk you out of an unnecessary ticket and court appearance to clear the ticket and maybe get your Yak back it the cop is in a bad mood. ....... just sayin

Good idea - I was thinking the same thing myself!

All in all the day turned out OK since I went up to Eden Mill - Deer Creek in Harford County for the first time. Caught a bunch of creek chubs and enjoyed the scenery and quiet.

I took a look at Google maps for RE Lee Park and it looks like it's accessible from Falls Road to Lakeside Drive. I I follow Lakeside up toward the dam, where do you recommend parking / launching ? Not sure how old the imagery is on Google but it looks like if you follow Lakeside up past the dam, it comes to a turn-around that's close to the water. I didn't see any parking lot, etc. -- but then again, I may be looking at old images.
