The link includes includes a species list for the pond which is common to most Eastern Shore ponds.
A pond nearby that I am very familiar with is Trap Pond in Laurel, DE. Laurel is only 15 miles or so from Salisbury. It contains the same species listed for Schumaker.
I've caught some very respectable bass, pickerels and bluegills in Trap. It's scenic with a large area of bald cypress trees, and excellent shoreline structure.
I have only fished Schumacher one time from the bank, only sunny’s and bluegills, but I am sure they have some pickerel and bass. They do a stock trout release on the stream side of the spillway there in the early spring. I would recommend you try Johnson’s Pond in Salisbury. It is a trophy bass lake according to DNR, it does have citation pickerel, plus I have intel from a local Snaggedliner who had a house on the Pond and claims there are stripped bass in there. The neighborhood around the ramp is a little sketchy, so might be a good idea to go with a buddy.
Thanks so much y’all for the input! I’m moving over to the shore from SOMD here in a few months and I’m just trying to get some fishing spots in line (priorities). Thank you so much for the suggestions for trap pond and Johnson pond. I will check them both out and take precautions as needed! Again, I really appreciate the tips!
