  • Bad news: new public boat ramps effectively defunded in Anne Arundel FY22 budget

    Good morning all,

Bad news: County Executive Steuart Pittman's FY22 budget is in front of the County Council now. It effectively defunds new public boat ramps.

Good news: It's not all CE Pittman's decision. The County Council votes on the budget.

If you want more public boat ramps, email your Councilmember ASAP. Remember to include your first and last name and snail mail address so they know you are a real person and a real constituent. If you want to include County Executive Pittman his email is: countyexecutive@aacounty.org

What is really helpful is testimony before the Council. It's easy. Please testify in favor of more public boat ramps in the Council budget meeting Monday night, 5/10/21 or Thursday night, 5/20/21. It's online via Zoom, You get two minutes. It's audio only, you're not on camera. You sign up through the link below. You'll get an email with a Zoom link to click when the meeting starts. Public testimony is usually first so you don't have to sit through the whole meeting. If we don't ask we're not going to get.

    Thursday May 20 2021 6 pm: https://www.aacounty.org/departments...-fy22-budget-5

PLEASE spread the word to trailered boat owners.

    Thank you,

    Lisa

If there is any way to speak for two minutes tonight for public water access at the online Council budget hearing, PLEASE DO!

      How to sign up: https://www.aacounty.org/departments...get-meetings-2

Budget hearing starts at 6 pm.

Requests: more public boat ramps, cheap kayak launch at Weinberg Park for $1000 and volunteer labor, cheap kayak launch at South River Farm Park for $500 and volunteer labor, long term project at kayak launch at Valentine Creek.

Thanks. This FY22 budget is terrible. It effectively defunds new public water access projects.
