As avid anglers, it's a safe bet we are on the water more than the general population. And as avid kayak anglers, our experience on the water is a more intimate one than you might have while buzzing around in a power boat. We see up-close-and-personal how the Bay's water quality changes - good or bad - over the years. We see turbidity change with the weather, algal blooms come and go, oxygen levels fluctuate, species diversity change. Despite the constant flux, the Bay continues to provide us with enjoyment day in and day out, year after year. I think many of us in the Snaggedline community are conservation-minded and as such, grateful for the opportunities the Bay provides us and future generations.
I wanted to share with the Snaggedline community an exciting opportunity: Bay Paddle 2021. This is an 8 day, 215 mile long kayaking journey from Havre de Grace, MD to Virginia Beach, VA to raise awareness and funds for Chesapeake Bay restoration. There is no entry fee for this relay race, instead, participants are asked to raise $1000 which directly benefits Chesapeake Conservancy's efforts to designate Chesapeake Bay as a National Recreation Area and Oyster Recovery Partnership's work to plant 10 billion oysters in the Bay. If you would like to participate you can register as an individual or as part of a team here: https://www.paddlesignup.com/Race/MD/Arnold/BayPaddle The deadline for registration is August 6th.
I am participating in the race along with my teammates at Chesapeake Conservancy and Oyster Recovery Partnership. You can help me achieve my personal fundraising goal of $1000 towards this great cause by donating any amount at the following URL: https://runsignup.com/david2021.
Your donations are tax-deductible and the proceeds go directly to Chesapeake Conservancy and Oyster Recovery Partnership. To learn more about these organizations, please visit their websites at: https://www.chesapeakeconservancy.org/ and https://oysterrecovery.org/. You can learn more about the Bay Paddle relay at https://www.baypaddle.org/ or on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
With your help we can work towards a healthier, cleaner, and more accessible Bay for all to explore and enjoy!
Thank you for your consideration, and please feel free to share this message with anyone you think may be interested!
