Where in Southern Maryland? Mattawoman and other creeks off the Potomac have plenty, though it might be a stretch to call that Southern Maryland. I have heard they are in good numbers in the headwaters of St. Mary's River and its tribs. I've also heard they can be found in numerous ponds and creeks in Calvert. You stand chance of finding them just about anywhere these days, look for shallow water with lots of cover - wood or vegetation. This late in the year your chances of catching one will be waning, your best shot will be to go in the late afternoon on a sunny day, this allows the shallow waters to warm up just a couple degrees which can make or break a snakehead trip.
