    MM -

Just so you know you are not alone, here is a report.

I just got home from Sandy Pt. I launched my 16' Scout center console at 11:00. The reported 1 ft waves were only that small near the western shore. By the time I got out to the rockpiles, the waves were 1.5 to 2 footers. Even with my electric trolling motor, it was not practical to jig the rockpiles or piles.

After losing three jigs in 15 minutes, I returned to the ramp to wait for a better day.

I am looking forward to Thurs afternoon when Southerly and I will kayak fish the Kent Narrows area. Other kayakers are welcome to join us.

I'm stuck on dry land until Friday at the earliest although I am going to make it in the woods for the first time tomorrow evening Work, moving into a new apartment and other random things keep trying to cut into my on the water time but hopefully a couple of those will be taken care of soon!

I haven't been out all October , because my wife just delivered our second son on the 20th . I am hoping to make it to the Nov M&G, when my parents will be around to help take care of the kiddies. That'll probably be my last trip this year.

Congrats, Sun. You'll have to hit up some of the other new fathers on the site for tips on earning kitchen passes.

I'm heading to a conference in Daytona Beach next week. I was hoping to fish here this Saturday with my father before I go, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get the chance. I've got a guide lined up for the end of next week, and I'm going to try to find a place to rent a yak and fish a few hours before my flight out. Hopefully, I can scare up some nice specks and reds.

10/30/2011 - Too cold / windy for the kayak - went out with a friend and his buddy on their boat. Not a kayak report, but still striper fishing.

Launched at Wilson Pt at 5:45am - basically rocky point park. Temps were right at freezing. The ice on the boat deck did not melt until 12:30 when we pulled out. Winds were out of the NW at 15-20mph and gusting 25+ outside the rivers where we spent the majority of the time fishing rockpile/shoal areas in 2-8. Water temps had dropped 8 degrees in a matter of 48 hours, and it had the stripers active but scattered. Water was also off colored and we did not see another fishing rod all day, just two crab boats. It was a brutal out there.

We caught 7 over 18", biggest was 24.5", all were healthy and fat. Inside stomachs of six of them were 2" bunker and small bluegill.

Everything caught on 3/4oz rattle traps next to rip-rap on the rocks in 3-8' ft water.
