  • Road trip from PA...to kent island

Hi everyone, I'm planning on meeting a friend at Kent Island for some fishing this Thursday and Friday. Some questions...
    Camping nearby?
What size stripers should we be targeting?
Up here in Jersey I've had Stripers on eels up to 25lbs and was wondering if I should be targeting smaller fish this time of year in that part of the Chesapeake?
    Also, any other species around?
    Thanks in advance.....

all sizes including BIG migratory rock are 'around' right now. i do not know what's happening at the BB right now but reports indicate areas farther south may be producing better #'s of big fish. as a general notion, the BIG fish should be hunting big bait - 12"+ menhaden this time of year.

most reports are from powerboat trollers targeting the migratory rock. they are mostly pulling large spreads of wh/chart 6, 9, or 12" swim shads for long hours @ 3mph. there are also guys jigging various structure using 6" bkd for example, sized up to 10" if fish are biting. i've only seen the vaguest of reports re using eels in that area and couldn't say what to expect.

we've had mild weather lately but would normally expect strong NW winds and sea cond's too rough w/ea cold front this time of year. be prepared and use good sense in making decisions whether to go out. good luck and fun fishing!

A friend of mine fished a bay bridge rockpile yesterday afternoon. He caught about 15 rockfish above 18" by jigging metal lures. So they are still there.

Kent Narrows is a good bet ......... lots of current and the fish move through there. Try BA's on 1/2 oz shad heads, Rapalas, and maybe some topwater. Fish are mainly in the 20+ " up to mid 30's

We arrived at Kent Narrows just at sunset Thursday. Fished under the bridges for a bit. Then moved south to in front of the Kent Narrows Yacht club. Picked up a 30" on eels. Fished some more then went to find a secluded place to camp.
Next day was a slow start. In the A.M. Steve picked up one about 24" on an eel. Mid-day we took a nap on some grass, and watched these guys picking bass out like it was nothing on bass assassin type lures. With new confidence, we went out and I picked up two more 20" right around sunset.
Thats it, thanks for the help all, it was a great trip for us....
