  • Digging a MKF Mancave

My goal is to have the perfect man cave for all us Yak Fishermen ......a place to hang out ..... so I gotta get to it ....... It's my goal for this year

....... over the last couple of years I've accumulated a ton of stuff for rod building and lure building ....... I have more than most professional rodbuilding shops and lure building shops. The basement is 30 x 30 w/fireplace and will have couchs and a wide screen for watching games fishing vids and tables for tackle building and a seperate room for rodbuilding .......... I've found it's more fun building stuff with others so I want a place to do this. I have this space and I'm single so it's perfect for a man cave.

Problem is that a couple of years ago I had termites in the basement and I ripped out walls and I had a toilet that leaked so I turned off the water in that bathroom and I want to replace the toilet and the sink.

If I can ever get my basement finished I'll hold robbuilding and lure building classes at my house ........... I literally have everything ......... 3 power wrappers, 2 hand wrappers, dryers, library of books and magazines going back over 20 years, 3 looms for weaving, software for both weaving and crosswraps, about 50 blanks and tons of components, all kind of cork rings and ready made cork handles, regular lathe, flocking equipment, different epoxy and finishes, several hundred spools of thread in just about every color and shade ........ etc etc etc .......

Also have everything to make almost any lure you want ........ including stuff for making molds for/of the lure ....... plastic, lead, wood ...... including all the components .........

I need help with framing and wallboarding and maybe brickwork to rebuild what I tore down and I Also need someone to install/replace a sink and toilet ....... plumbing is already there ........ not a huge amount of work probably a couple of weekends .......

So ....... I'm Looking for someone to do this work or help me do it .......... so If you're interested or know someone that's good at this and/or looking for work let me know. I will pay cash or trade for custom rods and custom tackle.

Thanks in advance for any help .......... remember ....... you guys will benefit from this too .......

That sounds like an awesome room. It also sounds like the makings for a retirement business -- you have all the supplies and facilities and oversee your customers making rods and tackles.

I am not much of a handyman, but could find a day now and then to serve as a helper if you decide to do it yourself.

Thanks John ......... I will definitly take you up on your offer .........

Yeah ...... the business is something I've been thinking about ...... to pay for my fishing trips if nothing else ........ maybe even tax deductible ......

Oh ........ forgot to mention that I have a ton of airbrushing stuff I've never used so painting lures is also there ......... and about 100 saltwater popperblanks .......... and about 50 soft plastic and lead molds ......

My dad has a Drywall company and could probably hang it and finish it for you at a fair price. He's not too far from Parkville. If I can find a free weekend, I could help you out with framing if its not too intense. Maybe post or send me some pics so I can see what you're working with....

Oh ....... and I have a shed out back that I use for all the pouring activities ....... keeps the fumes and fire potential outside ....... that 1 doesn't need work

I also need some brick work ........... have a large patio that needs some brickwork ......... figure I can use this for cookouts ......... also planning on brewing my own beer .......... got all the stuff for it ....... brewed 2 batches ........ they were like a Sam Adams only slightly better ........

I remodeled homes for 15 years-mostly really high end and historic stuff. I can help on weekends if you want. I'll leave the drywall to Ryan's dad though , that's truly an art.

Your fishcave idea sounds awesome. I'm excited at the idea of learning so much which would be more than payment so I'm willing to help out. I've never done drywall, but I'm pretty handy and can do most things. A mini meet and greet (3-5 people) to work on the cave could go well. I'm also close by in white marsh.
