I spent many a day at Fletchers when I was a kid, so I would be glad to take April. No restaurant for this one right? Back in the day they sold the most awesome hotdogs and Pepsi in the little bait house. Do they still do that? I'll check.

Yes ........ Fjarhead and I did it last year ......... the launch is owned by the Park Service. You can't have trailers though and there is a very low and narrow tunnel you have to go thru ......... my F-150 has about 6 inches clearence .......

          2 things .....

First, can we please make this a M&G sticky ....... need a M&G Sticky

Second, can we make some of the M&G's on Sunday ........ I know of some of the guys have to work on Saturdays and would love to join us ....... I've noticed that 1 that has been very giving to this board has stopped posting ..... I would suggest a couple of the closer M&G's to eliminate the problem of travel

Rick has a good suggestion. Does anyone know how to do that on this board? I tried looking for some options, but I could not find anything that would accomplish this. It is always possible that my eyes overlooked the obvios... Any instructions would be appreciated.

I believe that only the webmaster is the only one that can do that. Send a message to the webmaster on our site, I think its Grilled Sardine and ask him...

I work not too far from fletchers and the best sandwich shop in DC is about a 5 minute drive from Fletchers. The sandwich shop is called Jetties. We could just call in our order in advance and have someone go pick it up, while others hold a few picnic benches back at Fletchers. I can bring a few to go menus on the day of the event, since I drive by it everyday on my way to work.

Since I heard that tunnel clarence can be low.... can you find out how high it is, so I can know if a yak ontop of an SUV would fit? Some SUVs are taller than others, so a measurement clarence would help. Is ther space for car top boats only or can you bring a kayak trailer?
I have never fished there obviuosly

There's an upper parking area too. Just cart the yak down bc you won't be able to get through the tunnel with it on top. My X is barely able to get through with nothing on top. It's not that bad of a walk either.

Kimbro has a video that shows it briefly-

I stopped by Fletchers yesterday to scout out the tunnel clearance. Here is a picture to show what kind of clearance you have with an Xterra. I probably had about 12 - 15 inches without anything on top. I could have easily made it through with my yak mounts on with no problem, but I wouldn't risk trying it with my kayak on top.

As others have pointed out, its probably best to just offload in the top parking lot and cart your kayak down. There is a well maintained bridge, path, and ramp to get you down. Although it is probably a little over 100 yards, so you should definitely bring a cart or borrow one from the group to get you down to the water.

Also took a picture of the snackshop menu, and confirmed that they do have hotdogs, icecream, gatorade, etc.
