    CCA Maryland is hosting the Tidal Pickerel Championship. It will be a Derby between January 15th - March 15th, 2012.

    Registration is Free but you have to be a CCA Member ($25). Lifetime members and Kids under 16 are free.

    You can register at the following participating tackle shops:

    Anglers
    Alltackle
    Shore Tackle
    Tochtermans

    There will be a perpetual trophy that will reside in the winning Tackle Shop for the year. The winning tackle shop team is determined by total number of inches caught during the competition.

    Rules:

    - No Bait or Treble Hooks.
    - Fishing may take place in any tidal tributary of the Chesapeake Bay.
    - Catch Photo and Release. Photos must be sent to pickerel@ccamd.org.
    - Photos must be taken against official ruler (provided).
    - Deadline is March 15th at Midnight.
    - Panel of judges will determine actual length based on photography submitted.
    - Tie breaker determined by time, first in wins.
    - Tackle Shop Team Winner is decided by the total inches caught by it's team members.
    - Each tackle shop will have prizes for most inches and biggest fish registered by their team anglers.
    - All rules and regulations set forth by MD DNR apply.

    Thanks for the vote of confidence. However, I am already in the SRRKC pickerel tournament and do not plan to enter the CCA one. The CCA tournament does not allow live bait (my preference for pickerel in the winter) nor does it allow treble hooks (as found on many common lures). Someone else will have to be the CCA pickerel king.
