This will always be a classic. Maybe someone should invent some sort of device to prevent this from happening, and to help assure minimal injury & the safe release of the fish....

    Oh wait...

.... they do ...... it's called a knife to the line 5 ft from the yak .................... landing a shark on a yak is natures way of cleaning the gene pool .....

As Buggs Bunny would say, "What a maroon!" ...and then to scream like a girl.

There are devices to remove a hook from a shark's mouth. Its an easy out, one of those rods with a circular end, where the line slides into. When I was on Diego Garcia, I removed many hooks from small blacktip and other sharks that we had caught. Of course, we always used pliers. The only time that I was bitten was when one of my friends held a blacktip pup up to my ass and let it bite me. I of course got even a few days later, when I held a land crab up to the back of his leg. It was all in fun.

There are YouTube videos of guys catching young Mako sharks off California beaches. They actually pull the sharks up onto the kayak and over their lap for a photo. Take a look at those guys. When I say young Makos, I mean 3 to 4 feet long. Kind of crazy.

Step 1: Put shark between your legs.
Step 2: Put your hand right in front of its mouth.
Step 3: Scream like a girl.

i think PITA should get involved to ban all shark fishing because of the deplorable treatment of that almost defenseless little shark. ha shark bites dumb ass who tries to remove hook by hand. what a maroon.

i was watching saltwater tv last weekend and this 3-4 shark the guide was holding turned and bit him in the crotch, now thats entertainment
