  • New guy..

    .. from the eastern shore.
Glad I stumbled onto the site! Very cool! Fell in love with kayaking almost 20 years ago, and been fishing/camping/waterfowling from my 16' Old Town Loon for probably 15 of those. Tore the front seat out to make some room, stuck some rodholders in the back deck, and thats about it. Gonna stick some pics up in the post your pics thread...
Just to clarify, because I struggled with a screen name, I certainly don't look at myself as the kayak king. I've still got a heluva lot to learn, and seeing some pics of the boats on here gives me kayenvy..
When I first started paddling, I bought a hat that said "kayaking" on it.. didn't really notice the spacing in the word, until a buddy started calling out "the kaya kiiiiing" any time I wore it.
Just didn't want anyone to think the new guy's an ass.. thinks he's the Kayak King. Not so.
    But, I digress...

Great site, and I hope I can prove to be a benficial member.

    Welcome to MKF!

20 years kayaking experience is a LOT more than me (and a lot of other guys on here), so the name is fitting. All hail the king!

Welcome your highness!!! Hope to see ya out there when it warms up a bit. What part of the Eastern Shore are you in?? check out all the posts and you may see something you like. For instance, I'm willing to bet that after 20+ years of Yakin that you've got alot of STUFF that you've accumalated. Well, We are hosting a Fishing Flea Market/ Swap Meet. Its in Pasadena and on the 3rd of March. We do monthly get togethers called Meet and Greet's. These almost always end in some sort of B ESIN and the Consumption of our favorite beverage. Its a Good group of guys that just love to fish and a few of them do it ALOT!!!!! Me personally, I'm a Fair Weathered Kayak Fisherman. But thats only until I get some cold weather gear. If you ever have a question or idea I'm sure at least 10 of your fellow Yakers will have a reply. Hell, some may even come and help you with whatever you got going on. I've found only GOOD Friends and GOOD times.

Thanks so much for the welcome!
Dogfish, I have no idea what an FNG is, but I'm already having a great time.
medicyaker, I'm also a fairweather kayak fisherman, although I do waterfowl from it some this time of year. Chaffing for spring..
I look forward to trying to get to a m&g, but doubt I'd have much to contribute at a swap meet, due to my minimalist approach to our sport.
I guess thats because I'm on powerboats alot, due to my job, my old man's a boatbuilder, and I've got a 22' CC I use a great deal. So the yak is a way for me to strip it down. The only boat I trust to not leave me..

I spend my seat time mostly in dorchester county. From the choptank river bridge, on out the choptank and the bayshores down to lower hoopers island.
No elects, so I'm usually just fishing structure I know, beaching and fishing points (and hunting arrowheads), or just cruising around casting plugs/bucktails and drifting. Nothing revolutionary there... Damn, I miss summertime.
Thanks again for the welcomes, and I dig the hell out of the site!

Welcome! Nice to see another loon owner on the board. I've never fished from mine but seeing yours is making me think about it.
