EYES on lures

How important are EYES on lures... jigheads... plastics...

I know many fish will swallow lures head first... are the eyes how they know where the head is?

Big eyes = more fish?

Will fish avoid chasing a bait if it's LOOKING at them in which case, NO eyes = more fish? (You can't see me so I might as well eat you)

I am wondering out of general curiosity, but also because i'm painting some jig heads and don't know if i should put eyes on them.

I think eyes can help... may just be contrast but I feel like they help direct the fish to hit the front of the bait. Could just be marketing though.

I don't have either LOL (I dont have white and black paint and I SHOULD be working). Still, i'm painting freaking jigheads in my '"spare" time.......

So... do they need to look like REAL eyes... a lot of lures have 3-D glass eyes... if all we need is contrast, I should just paint big red circles in whatever colors???

I'm telling you... these fish are smarter than we think... especially the big ones. I'm gonna make some eyes that move and look very very insecure... = catch more fish.

all the top producing lures have eyes so put eyes on. i put them on even though i suck at painting eyes. a lot of makers use small doll eyes that the pupils move

I work in ecommerce where A/B testing is key... is there A/B testing in lure making???

If you paint bloodshot eyes, the fish will think the jig is tired and easy game. So they'll attack the jig without hesitation.

Half of the work is FINDING the fish... no doubt... the other half is getting them to bite... all we have to do is make them smoke weed to get bloodshot eyes? What else? Hotrodding their tails in red ink to make them look injured? Making them smell like garlic (which means they've touched a human and are in distress)?
