  • How far would you go?

How far offshore have you ever paddled out and fished? (in the ocean)

When I first got my Outback I went about 1/2 off the beach at Oregon Inlet. I was fine until I noticed just how fast the current was and remembered just how new I was to kayaking. Fished for about 20 minutes and then headed in. I need to get back out there, now that I have a few years under my belt.

Everyone should believe in something... I believe I'll go fishing.

I've gone over 5 miles out. I wouldn't mind going 10-15 miles out, but only with other yakers or an escort boat.

I've gone out 3 miles back home in La Jolla and it's not uncommon for guys to go out 5 miles... I wouldn't go much further without a boat or an Adventure Island. The paddle back would take forever.

When you think about it, the 1st island is a 3 mile paddle but you have some shelter from the ocean swells. Open ocean is another story.
