    use chicken shears and cut off the spines on their backs. Dont try to break them off it will kill the perch. Once the fins are cut they work fine for live baiting.

      I t is because their gill and spin structure are a lot tougher, rockfish are smarter than you think they know which bait will go down smoother, but if they're hungry they'll eat whatever.

        Anyone see the video that was circulating last winter that showed how to head, gut, and skin a yellow perch in 10 seconds??? I thought yeah, sure, 10 seconds my arse. Well after I looked at the video I think it could be done on a bet. But for most of us, after we got the hang of it, we could easily do it in 30 seconds tops. I'll see if I can find the video again. BTW, some of the bones to include the backbone are still in the meat.

        Since seeing the video I have yet to catch a keeper yperch to give it a try.
