Hey, it's warming up quickly. Besides, we need some inspiration now.

Sounds like you had great fun, Ron. Did you go last year? It might be worth going this year, but with all those side-by-side rods, it'd be a challenge fishing there. Can you keep the catch? I'd just like to get one somewhere "near," like Norfolk/VB.

Kinda like the dog chasing the car...What do you do when you catch it?

No Tuf- I haven't been to Hatteras Red Drum Fishing in a few years now- it is still a blast to have that first long run after you set the hook when you wonder if your tackle will have enough line to stop them. A forty or fifty pound red can pull a hundred yards of line off a reel on the initial run. Each run gets shorter but you get several sustained runs against a pretty stout drag...I imagine it would be pretty awesome in a kayak- sleigh ride for sure, but it is the same story with a big cobia or King Mackerel- all big fish that have lots of fight-and are a real challenge to hook and catch.

red drum- they are a fun, strong fish- we used to use a "sandwich" for bait...but my favorite bait is half of a corn cob mullet on a 10/0 English drum hook fish finder rig...and surf fishing calls for reels with strong drags and at least 300 yards of 25 pound line
