  • Your Go-to Place to fish

I'm sure this has been done in the past, but we've gotten a lot of new members in the past few months so I thought this was a good post idea...

Where is your favorite or "Go-to" place to kayak fish?

I'll start up the thread with mine:

Jonas Green State Park, Severn River, Annapolis, Md

I basically learned kayak fishing here and the diversity of fish species available within a short distance of the park at different times of the year is awesome. I've caught: White Perch, Striped Bass, Bluefish, Croaker, Toadfish, Spot, Pickerel, Needlefish and Blue Crabs. I'm sure there are other types of fish swimming around near Jonas Green that I have not caught yet.

The latter is my community beach access from which i fish 3-5 days per week in summer.

Upper reaches of Nanticoke and Choptank River. It's been a few years but my favorite go-to was always the Potomac. I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours there fishing with my Dad and had some of the best days bass fishing I've ever had. Have only been there once in a yak and that was in Oct. but was skunked. I hope to get there this spring for the shad, yellow perch and I really want to try and get a few big catfish as well as snakeheads.

I want to start fishing in the bay again as it's been years since I've done much fishing out there. I used to spend a lot of time on the rivers of the eastern shore and not even bother with the bay.

Number 1 is from 5 miles above to 5 miles below 301 bridge along MD shoreline. Number 2 is everywhere else.... upper potomac smallies, Mattawoman and Nanjemoy LM bass and cats as they come (really hate cats)

Bay Bridge, Annapolis... It's nearby, easy launch from Sandy Point, surreal under the bridge, and I only get skunked there half of the time.
