  • Gonna have to start practicing....

I swear I thought about attaching thigh straps to a sit-on-top to do this and practicality won out. But one warm day I may have to give this a try!

At least with the thigh straps you can hang upside down under water and watch all your loose gear sink to the bottom.

That would be a cool skill to master though. Def bring the camera.

That's a big kayak too! I guess if you had everything lashed down for a surf launch anyway you might be ok... but chances are if you're having to roll in the surf, you're going to get pummeled into the bottom before you can pull this off.

I don't think I want to be strapped into the kayak in that situation!

Yeah... Cool idea but seems kind of pointless unless you're fishing whitewater.

Just put everything inside the hull or strap it down and you're ready to go...

yeah dont do it in the surf or a wheelchair might be in the future. even being on the wrong side of a kayak in the waves is hazardous to your health.

Eskimo roll in fresh water make sure the gopro is secure and turned on.

tried it in my 16' old town tandem dirigo sit in. took a few times to get the technique right and not panic

Done this in my youth in a sit-in yak, called the Eskimo Roll. Notice that he lays back as he turns the yak upright, thereby bringing his bodyweight in closer to the axis of the rolling motion.
