  • New to the site!

    Hello all,

I just wanted to reach out and say hello to all. I am new to both the site and kayak fishing. I have done it with rentals on vacation in NC, but i think im ready to buy my own and dive in. I have a good deal on a Malibu Stealth 12 fishing package from kayakfishingsupplies.com, so I wanted to get some opinions on what you guys thought of this yak.

I am looking forward to meeting some of you at the meet on March 3. As of right now I would be going solo, so finding some friends would be nice.

Again, glad to be here and meet you!
    Keith

They seem like really cool boats, love the live well and storage areas up front. Have you paddled one yet? I think with that width and length it may be a little slow. Looks very stable though! It all depends on where you plan on fishing and how far.

              Welcome!

Welcome! I don't have experience with Malibu but they seem to be well designed and designed for fishing. If you have your kayak by March 10th, there is a meet and greet at Jonas Green park. See post http://www.snaggedline.com/showthread.php?t=2718
That's not too far from Pasadena.

Any yellow perch up your way?

The Malibu looks pretty nice (for a non pedal kayak )
Like someone said it may not be all that great to paddle because it's wide.
My hobie is just as wide and is a bit of a bear to paddle, but I really like the width for stability and storage. The ability to pedal makes this a moot point.
I like the baitwell and the fish finder rod mount package. I'd recommend taking one for a test spin before you buy it...or you could just forget all this and join the debate of whether you should buy the outback or the revolution

Either way you choose, welcome aboard and we look forward to fishing sometime

I'm not sure if anywhere by Annapolis carries Malibu kayaks, but the Patuxent River Adventure Center in Solomons does. It might be worth giving them a call to see if they have one you can check out or demo. If you call, ask for Joey. He's been in most, if not all, of their kayaks and can field any questions you have.

We sell a version of the Stealth 12 at West Marine. It is a nice kayak. I like the built in live well for live line fishing.

Welcome to the forum. As others have said it is an addictive way to fish. Anywhere you tend to go, you can take the kayak.
