I have a canoe with a square back. I use it with a trolling motor to crab with. That is what I primarily do with my conoe. I use the canoe also to take a friend out who wants to get out on the water, but they do not want to be on a kayak by themselves. When I do take the canoe out, I will not take it out in windy, or bad weather. A kayak can handle those conditions allot better.

everyone gave you all the info you need.
A canoe or sit in yak is fine for along shore lines IMO but if you go out farther The SOT yak is a must IMO.

If you swamp a canoe or sit in yak you not only have to get yourself back to the shoreline, you also have to swim dragging a swamped canoe or yak.

That was the biggest selling point IMO for getting a sit on top kayak.
They dont swamp! Just flip it back over and hop back on.

A few were talking about the Malibu 2XL.
Found this link the other day for 2 of them in the Baltimore area.
The add is over a month old so not sure if they are still available.
