  • Flats Bite?

Has anyone heard of stripers on the flats yet? We've gotta be getting very close. I think I'm going to make a trip Friday...maybe. Otherwise, I've talked to guys who are catching largemouth in good sizes up there right now.

      Cool. I'll let you know.
I may be doing some experimentation with lures and trolling stuff and plan to cover some water if you're up for it. If I don't see a hint of rockfish, I'll switch to looking for largemouth. That'd be more fun together anyway.

There's a thread of TF about it:

Sounds like no one is getting anything yet, but they think it could turn on any day...

I am going to be out there tomorrow, but mostly trying for Large/Small mouth Bass. If I get any Stripers or see anyone catching them, I will let everyone know.

I didn't get anything today but it was a short trip due to a change in work schedule had me heading in early before I could really get fishing. I am assuming that they are biting since the launch ramp at Tydings Memorial Park was busy with fishing boats being put in.

Going to try for a longer trip later this week.

Ah, so there are guys making trips out already. Thanks for the info. Did you happen to get a water temp?

Yes definitely guys out making trips already. Not sure of the exact water temp the NOAA site is showing temps around 49-51F between Chesapeake city to Solomans Island. That felt about right, so its likely in that range on the flats.

Damn, you're right. They've got 51F posted out of the NE River. That's perfect.
