Jean Roberts park Launch fee?

Went out for the first time on the flats today, I launched from Jean Roberts Memorial park, I noticed that there was a sign saying that the launch fee was 5.00. I paid today, but do I need to pay since I am not launching a powerboat from a trailer?

If there is a fee is there another spot with no fee? I know of a couple places in the state park but I am looking for something closer to the mouth of the river, with an easy way to launch?

There's no fee for rooftop launch. I fish there often. Was anything going on up there today?

Yes there were some boats there, when I pulled in there was only one trailer but it was still somewhat foggy. Once the fogged burned off around 11:00A there were a few more boats, but no other yaks then me. Most of them were fishing out in the mouth of the river. Didn't get anything myself but next time I going to try out further, today I fished towards the mouth of the river, and the pilings of the railroad and hatam bridge until the fog was gone.
