I have a 3 pound grapple anchor. Will that do?

doubt your grapple anchor will drag....they have a tendency to "grapple"
        grapple (verb)transitive verb
1: to seize with or as if with a grapple

haha. Last week my friend was floating down past memorial park with a 3 lb grapple in the water. I don't know if the current (wind?) is normally that strong but he was floating down regardless.

hahaha, I am gonna try some chain this weekend and see how it works.

Does anyone know what the current is like coming in / out of chincoteague inlet? Is it something that can be paddled in or across or will I get swept out to sea?

I had that same question actually. Where were you thinking of launching from? Were you trying to get to the 4 mouths?

I have been looking for a good launch site, but can't find any place that close. The closes point I think is Memorial park or Tom's cove camp ground if you are camping there. There is that "sketchy" place inletview campgrounds that everyone seems to be bashing online. It seems like a perfect launch point, but apparently the campground is in terrible condition.

You going today or tomorrow? I'm thinking about heading out to either Chincoteague or Point Lookout. Try my luck at some croakers over there if I do go to PLO. I do want to try Chinco again though.

I think we were gonna try launching from the marina. We wanted to try for red drum out in the shoals which we would need to get out by the inlet.

The marina to the point is 1.88 miles so not to bad especially if you catch the last of the outgoing to help get out there. I don't know anything about Four Mouths. I just use google earth to try and find stuff.

If the drum doesn't work out there has to be some good flounder fishing around there so that is our back up plan. We are going to go this weekend.

You are talking about the inlet further north right? Not at the southern tip of chicnoteague where the NASA center is?

Red drum does sound like fun. Never been before.

I was going to head to The Four Mouths next weekend. I agree that the Harbor is the closest launch I can find, with NASA on Wallops Island, I assume there's nothing public about it.

Have any of you guys fished the shoals in a yak? I would think it could be pretty rugged this time of year, but I've never done it.

I might head out to 4 mouths next weekend as well. Tried PLO and SPSP this weekend just cause its closer to home, but no action there. What day will you be going?

Saturday - High at 8:00, Low at 2:30. I was also thinking about putting in at causeway early and fishing the outgoing tide in the sound as suggested earlier in the thread. Then, paddle to the four mouths in the afternoon. I'll check back later in the week
