I have this one and it's been great. For me, it has to be lightweight and airy. The summer heat and the effort paddling can be exhausting and the lightweight mesh keeps me as cool as can be expected. Also, they all have rear flotation pads so you need to make sure it's comfortable against your seat back. This one also has plenty of storage. And it has adjustable straps so I can wear it in the early spring under heavy clothing and in the summer with a t-shirt. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...17000_225-17-0
Lots of pockets, mesh construction for cooling, durable, good quality product. No complaints here...
I looked at that one and while I liked it, I wasn't sure about the flotation ....... It lists as 16lbs 6oz of flotation ....... I'm 5'10" 260 (fat) and it didn't seem to have as much flotation as some others .........
Have you tested it in the water? Do you think it would be sufficient for me?
Well, they make an XL and XXL so I have to think so. Somewhere I read that it is chest size and not weight that matters most. Make sure whatever brand you do get that it fits around you comfortably. And that is it has a high back. That's much more comfortable in a kayak seat.
Stohlquist and Kokatat also get good reviews but might be a bit more money. A little more flotation (not by much) as well if that's important to you. Check Austinkayak.com or Amazon. And shop around. If not in a hurry be patient and you'll find a good deal...
I use the stohlquist aSea and have been pleased with it. i dint want too many pockets bc it can get too bulky. has 2 small pockets. one i keep my whistle, backup knife, and mirror in, the other my camera.
