  • Pro Angler?

    Okay guys,
I’d like to hear from members that have switched from Revos, Outbacks and paddle yaks to the Pro Angler. Do you have any regrets? I can see a lot of positives, but what are the negatives, other then the weight? I’m sure keeping the Revo and getting the PA would be best, but that’s not going to happen. I will hopefully demo a PA within a week or two. Any info or opinions would be great. Thanks.

Haven't had a Revo or an Outback but I've read it's slower than a Revo and about the same as a outback ........ but I love my PA

I bought a outback last year, only got to use it a few times my son dos not let me go out without him. I love the outback but I bought myself a PA this year its only bin out 6 times still in the rigging stage...I love its only drawback is the weight but not for me I have a bed xtender if its just me and a trialer for the 2 so theres no high lifting...crab pots, fishing poles cooler, basket and still room to move around

As much as I like the PA, it's heavy, and I would not want to switch to trailering/trucking. That's the only thing holding me back from trading in my Outback. Are you getting a truck or trailer?

I love my Outback...it is just perfect for me...not so heavy I can't load it on top of my sedan, fast enough to pretty much keep up with the Revo fleet, and way more stable...

If I were going the heavy boat route that requires a trailer, I would buy a Boston Whaler 170 Dauntless with a fuel effecient four stroke Mercury outboard...much faster than a PA, and carries passengers...but different strokes for different folks...whatever turns your propeller, I say...

Thanks Ron, but if I got a boat it would lesson my time in a yak. Plus I would get lazier and fatter.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's going to happen. After I demo one I will be listing my Revo on here, Tidalfish and CL.

When I had a boat, I had more fair weather friends during fishing seasons than I could count- they didn't want to help clean the boat after a fishing trip or put any gas in it, but were aways there when you were launching it- and I remember that I had to have an electric winch on the trailer so I didn't have to crank the 24 footer on the galvanized EazyLoader 10,000 lb. capacity trailer....I needed to replace the electronics (after five years) with upgraded equipment- just that upgrade was more than four times of what I have totally invested in kayaking. And having a boat isn't a panacea for your being able to go fishing- you still have to balance your family time, work time, weather, opportunities, etc.

Having my today Outback gives me more fishing opportunities than I ever had with my 24 foot Stamas Clearwater back then-

For me, I actually thought of a pro-angler before I bought my Revo. If I got a pro-angler, I would not sell my revo. I like the stability of the pro-angler and the amount of room that it has. I may even be able to crab easier in the pro-angler. It is just to big for me at present. If I got it, then I would have to trailer it, since there is now way that I would get it ontop of my Suv. Also, I travel to many fishing locations and I hate the tolls that I would have to pay. It might have the reverse effect on me... I may fish less, because I would not want to deal with the weight. That is where I would through a Revo or Outback ontop of my car. You have the great compromise... a pickup with a bed extender..... not tolls involved, and easy to transport. In my case I would need a pickup, not my SUV. Everyone's case is different. Just do what works for your situation and enjoy! I also have a canoe with an electric retrolling motor and trailer, so it kind of negates a bigger boat in my case. I always trailer in locations that does not cost me extra on the canoe.
