I know it's not the most popular opinion, but the best move would be to go to facebook. There's a great base here, but it's only getting less popular. Facebook would give it a chance to grow.

Definitely wouldn’t be a fan of switching to Facebook. I personally don’t have a facebook and am just fine without it. There may be more people using Facebook then the snaggedline website but I’d rather a little knowledge and experience then a bunch of foolishness.

Also this site is clean to my eyes. To many curse words and know it alls on Facebook for me as with other fishing forums I’ve looked at. If this site goes down for good I’ll be thankful for the little time spent on it.

I agree, 100%. I've never had a Facebook account and never will. I like this site just the way it is, even if it gets quiet from time to time.

I’m also a member of the Maryland Kayak Fishing Association on FB (one of I’m sure several kayak fishing sites centered around the Chesapeake). It has over 3000 members and it’s traffic is about the same as Snaggedline in my opinion. The big difference is SL goes into detail while the FB page is a picture with frequently no description of how or where, and rarely engagement from the other members (unless you consider a thumbs up engagement). I’ve made great fishing friends thru SL, I doubt that will happen on FB (in large part I get to know SL members through their writing and willingness to share which I don’t get from FB).

I understand and respect all of your opinions. I've been on here for the last 5-6 years and definitely seen it trending downward. I know I only check once in awhile because there's just not much to see, in all honestly. I do appreciate all the guys I've met on here. The community is great, but it is dwindling.

I also have never had a Facebook account. If people would post instead of doing the, "I know I only check once in awhile because there's just not much to see, in all honestly."

I regularly post about my fishing on both FB and Instagram, and occasionally post on here when I find a good bite that I want to share with the group. Those other platforms are just so much easier to use, especially when it comes to sharing photos. The photo sharing process on here is clunky as all heck, and the last time I posted I could not get it to work to save my life. I kept getting an error message that made no sense at all. I definitely find the discussions on here to be much more informative, or I wouldn't be here at all because it certainly is a bit more work to use this platform, especially with the recent down times.

I have found in my interests (Fishing, Hunting, Jeeps, Horses, etc),, FB groups have a ton more traffic,, but 99% of it is useless, if not downright childish.

While forums are slower traffic wise,, the info, knowledge and people are 100%

I have had mixed results with FB groups. Some are quite good and informative while others are childish as you describe. It all comes down to the group rules, and the vigilance of the moderators in enforcing them. I leave the bad ones, and stick with the good ones while they remain that way.
