  • Good Deal?

I have a family member that is going to sell me his Hobie PA 14 (2013 model) for $1,000.00. While it does not have some of the newer features the newer boats have, I still this this is a great deal. I have also been wanting a Hobie PA for some time just couldn't afford the price tag to go with it.

What do you all think about this deal? Thanks for your help, I'm just wanting some input from others!

Hard to say for sure not seeing the boat and what condition its in... but I would say most likely a good deal it everything works. I'm not sure what features the 2013's had versus today (probably a less developed drive and I'm not sure what they were using for a seat), but its still probably a really solid, usable kayak. If treated right, a Hobie can have a long life and retains a lot of its value. I scan craigslist and facebook marketplace for fishing gear now and then and around me even most smaller, older hobie's are going for above a thousand.

Depends on what condition it's in and if it comes with any extras like a cart (or trailer for that matter... PA14 is big), fish finder, etc. I just checked an old Youtube video from 2013 where they covered all the features of the boat, and it seems like a solid boat. Nothing looks too obsolete except maybe the pedal drive - Hobie has made improvements with the turbo kickup fins and the 180 drive. $1000 is probably a fair deal if it's in good shape, but given the fact it's almost 10 years old I might expect a slightly lower asking price from a family member

        I think it's still a great deal in $1000.00.
